NCDRC Stays the Cancellation of Flats in Noida Extension

Last week the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC) stayed the cancellation of over 100 flats in Noida Extension.

The flat owners of Noida Extension now can rejoice as they are relieved from the tensions over their booked flats. More than 100 flat owners filed a petition against a scrupulous developer who had cancelled the booked flats in Noida Extension. However National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC), finding no substantial reason for the cancellation of the flats, stayed the cancellation imposed by the private builder.

With an aim to amass more profit from the project a builder had cancelled the bookings of over 100 flats soon after the Master Plan 2021 was approved by NCR Planning Board. The developer resumed construction of the project but cancelled the booking without any proper reasons.

Greater Noida Master Plan 2021 was approved in the last month. However this is considered to be a bane to the buyers who are tormented and tortured by the builders who are harassing the buyers in many ways and means.

The buyers are alleged of demanding increased amount for properties including the booked ones. Being harassed and tormented by the developers of the area, the flat owners met many authorities to solve the issue. A petition also was filed by the Flat Owners’ Welfare Association in Greater Noida West.

Hearing their filed petition, NCDRC stayed the cancellation of the booked flats. Additionally NCDRC has sent a notice to the alleged developer to submit the reasons for the cancellation which will be stayed till further orders.

Mr. Abhishek Kumar, a member in the flat owners’ association, said that the stay-order was like ray of hope to the distressed buyers. He added that the association plans to go ahead legally for establishing order in the area.

Many buyers alleged the builders that now they are demanding more money than the previously told amount. Besides, the builders are alleged of harassing and tormenting the buyers in many ways. Against this they have filed charges in front of CREDAI, CCI and Greater Noida Authority.
